Cascade County Severs Ties with Ticketmaster Over Fees

Cascade County voted Thursday to send Ticketmaster packing.

As the county transitions into taking over the fairgrounds from management company SMG, it also wanted to look into other ticketing companies. Cascade County commissioners approved a contract with VisionOne to provide ticketing services for events and concerts at the Expopark.

Cascade County Commissioner Joe Briggs says this move will save people about four dollars on a $27 ticket, compared with current prices.

Briggs adds, "VisionOne works very much like Ticketmaster in the sense there is a website people go to and pick the tickets they want. But unlike Ticketmaster, we control what the upcharges are. Ticketmaster has a rather aggressive schedule of additional charges that they add to a ticket when they purchase online. As a result, the tickets end up very pricy."
